Vendor Spotlight: Golden Hour Strings

Jun 24 2026 | By: Erin Langford Photo

I recently worked with Golden Hour Strings at several different weddings. They were so professional, nice and such a joy to work with. Their music really set the atmosphere and was such a beautiful touch. I love string music! When I got married finding a string quartert was he number one thing my husband wanted at our reception. It was well worth it.

Your name: Kailynn Honeycutt
Company: Golden Hour Strings
Genre: Live Wedding Music

Tell me a little about your yourself: Hi, I’m Kailynn! I’m a professional violinist, music educator, and the owner of Golden Hour Strings. Music has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember, and I love helping couples create meaningful moments through live music.

I hold a Bachelor of Music degree in Orchestra from Utah State University and regularly perform as a classical musician with symphony orchestras throughout Utah.

My favorite part of weddings is getting to know each couple and helping bring their vision to life. There’s something special about seeing a ceremony come together and knowing the music helped create memories that will last a lifetime!

When I’m not performing or working with couples, you can usually find me teaching violin and piano, spending time with my husband, or planning the next way to make Golden Hour Strings even better. I’m passionate about creating an experience that feels personal, easy, and unforgettable for every couple I work with.

Tell me about your company: If you’ve been dreaming of live strings on your wedding day, you’re in the right place! Golden Hour Strings specializes in elegant live music for weddings and special events throughout Utah. Founded by professional violinist and music educator Kailynn Honeycutt, our mission is to create meaningful musical moments that feel personal, intentional, and unforgettable.

We offer string quartets, trios, and duos, performing everything from classical favorites to modern love songs, movie soundtracks, and pop hits. Every event is customized to reflect each couple's unique style, ensuring the music feels like a natural part of their story.

Known for our professionalism, responsiveness, and polished performances, we work closely with couples and vendors to provide a seamless experience from the first inquiry to the final note. Whether you're planning an intimate ceremony or a grand celebration, Golden Hour Strings brings warmth, beauty, and sophistication to your wedding day.

How do customers typically find you? A large portion of our couples come through referrals from planners, photographers, venues, and past clients. We also get inquiries through Instagram, Google searches, wedding directories, and social media videos/reels.

What is your favorite part of being in the wedding industry? Watching people experience music emotionally in real time. There’s something incredibly special about seeing a bride walk down the aisle to live music or watching guests pause during cocktail hour just to listen. Music has the power to completely shape the atmosphere of a wedding day.

Why did you decide to start playing at weddings? I’ve always loved performing, but I especially loved the idea of making classical instruments feel approachable, modern, and emotionally impactful outside of a concert hall. Weddings are one of the few places where live music becomes tied to lifelong memories, and I loved being part of that.

What is your least favorite part about playing at weddings? One of the hardest parts is that live music is often something couples don’t fully understand the value of until they experience it in person. It’s difficult to communicate just how much live strings transform the atmosphere through photos or words alone.

What makes you stand out from your competitors? Are all live music vendors the same? Not all wedding musicians are created equal. Professionalism, communication, preparation, adaptability, and experience matter more than just musical skill in live events. We focus on reliability, customized music preparation, polished presentation, and creating a personal client experience from consultation to wedding day. We also specialize in balancing classical elegance with modern music couples actually connect with!

What is the benefit of hiring live musicians versus playing music yourself? Live musicians bring an emotional and immersive experience that playlists just can’t replicate. Professionals also know how to manage timing, transitions, acoustics, ceremony coordination, and unexpected changes in real time. Couples can relax knowing the music will flow naturally and enhance the experience rather than becoming another logistical stressor.

How far in advance should brides contact you about your services? We typically recommend booking 6–12 months in advance, especially for peak wedding season dates. Popular Saturdays can book very quickly, and booking earlier gives couples the best availability and more flexibility for customization and music planning.

What is the first thing customers usually ask you before booking? Usually couples ask about pricing, ensemble options, and what portions of the wedding we can perform for. Many couples are also curious about whether we can play modern or custom songs.

What is a consultation with you typically like? Our consultations are relaxed and collaborative. We walk through the wedding timeline and logistics, talk about the couple’s vision and atmosphere, discuss ensemble options, and answer questions about music selection. It’s helpful when couples bring inspiration playlists, ceremony details, or examples of music styles they love.

What are some things that brides and groom don’t typically expect to happen during a consult/meeting? Many couples are surprised by how customizable live strings can be. They often come in assuming we only play classical music, then realize we can perform everything from movie music to pop, indie, jazz, Disney, contemporary love songs, and yes, even video game music!

What is your favorite package/product/service and why do you recommend it the most? Our two hour signature string quartet package is always a favorite because it creates the fullest, most complete sound. It works beautifully for any size of venue and guest count (I always recommend it to my outdoor ceremony couples!) and it just adds an huge level of elegance and depth to the overall vibe of the wedding. Having a two hour package makes for a really seamless transition between the ceremony and cocktail hour so it doesn't feel like there's any abrupt stops or awkward pauses between events.

Describe your dream client? A couple who values the guest experience, cares about creating meaningful moments, trusts their vendors, and wants their wedding to feel intentional and personal rather than overly scripted. We love working with couples who are excited about their wedding music and trust us to take care of the rest!

What are some fun secrets about your industry? Many modern songs translate beautifully to strings, sometimes even more emotionally than the original version. Also, guests tend to pay much more attention to live music than couples realize. It often becomes one of the most talked-about parts of the wedding atmosphere!

What are some questions you wish grooms would ask you?
“How does live music change the atmosphere compared to a playlist?”
“What experience do you have specifically with weddings and live events?”
“How customizable is the music selection?”
“What happens if the timeline changes unexpectedly?”
“How do musicians coordinate with planners, photographers, and DJs on the wedding day?”

What do you wish photographers and other professionals knew about your industry? Live musicians are constantly adapting in real time... following ceremony timing changes, adjusting music lengths, reading cues, and coordinating transitions on the spot. We love collaborating with photographers and planners because when vendors communicate well together, the entire wedding day feels smoother and more elevated for the couple.
