– Meet Erin –

Hi! I'm Erin. I am a wedding photographer based in Utah and I love to capture wonderful couples in love. I am also a wife, mom, lover of musical theatre, British TV, good books and all things Jane Austen. I am a sucker for romance and would love to photograph your love story. Here is a little bit more about me.

– My favorites –

My husband Dan is my better half for sure. We grew up on the same street, but we didn’t actually meet until he came home from his mission. I even took swimming lessons in his family pool as a child. He's such a great dad and such a calming influence on me. Marrying him was the smartest thing I've ever done.

I'm so blessed to have the two most adorable little girls in the whole wide world. These girls are my universe and add so much joy to my life. I never knew how exhausting parenthood could be until I became a parent myself. I love every second of it.

I am a huge fan of musical theatre and you can usually catch me editing your photos to show tune music. Fiddler on the Roof has long been my favorite musical. I’m a Hamilton fan and my husband bought us tickets to see it for our anniversary this year. If that isn’t true love, I don’t know what is.

I am an avid reader, usually of historical fiction. My favorite book has always been The Scarlet Pimpernel. You can catch me geeking out to Harry Potter or Outlander too. (I am a Ravenclaw.) Other favorites include: Rebecca, The Rose Garden, Edenbrooke and The Maid of Fairbourne Hall. Time travel might be a theme here.

I love to travel and see new places. One of my favorite family vacations was when we went to Portland and the Oregon Coast. I loved seeing the ocean and visiting lighthouses. Some bucket list destinations include Hawaii, Switzerland and pretty much anywhere in Europe. Anyone planning a wedding there?

I am a sucker for British period shows so you can usually find me watching something on PBS or the BBC. Can you say Downton Abbey! I am also a Netflix/Hulu addict. Some of my all time favorite binge-worthy shows include: LOST, The West Wing, Battlestar Gallactica, The Newsroom, Nashville (I love country music) and of course Downton.

– Ask Erin –

Why would someone want to work with you?

I think my best characteristic is my ability to create a welcoming, fun session. I’ve been honored to work with more than 100 brides over the past 10 years, and I handle every wedding with grace, precision, and skill. Any last-minute wedding-day pitfalls: I understand them. Tricky lighting issues? I can handle it. Giggly kids? I love them. When you work with me, your wedding becomes your love legacy. A legacy you’ll be able to hold and share for years to come.

What got you interested in photography?

I have always enjoyed photography. I began my photography career in high school taking classes and working for a local photography studio. In college, I studied journalism and worked as a newspaper photographer for three years before I switched to running my own photography business.

I loved the energy I felt during my first photojournalism assignment, and I've been chasing that dream ever since. I get the same thrill with each wedding ceremony I capture. For the past 10 years, I’ve been capturing these special moments in northern Utah. I love getting to know my couples and their families. I also enjoy leading photography workshops and mentoring new photographers.

What are your sessions like?

To me, photography is about capturing people as they feel. When we work together, I make sure you have a relaxed session that brings out all the excitement and energy of your story — effortlessly.

What’s one trick-of-the-trade that most photographers forget about?

That being natural is often better than being over processed. I don’t succumb to every photography fad out there. I want my photos to be timeless, so I have more natural looking exposure and post-processing than some other photographers. You’ll be able to hold one of my photos in 10 or 20 years and not feel that it’s dated.

What’s the perfect portrait like?

The perfect portrait is a blend of strong emotion, good lighting, and proper posing, and I seek out ways to find natural emotion in every photo I take. I like the thrill of capturing that once-in-a-lifetime experience, and I understand the importance of family history and family heirlooms. That’s why great photography moves me to capture your soon-to-be favorite images.

Let’s showcase your timeless love in all its beauty, romance, and honesty.
